Mecum auction in Monterey just sold a Red Hunter for $15000 and it was beautiful. If you haven't done it already you can go to the Mecum website and sign up to see the results of all their auctions. It's free. If you didn't see the Monterey auction on TV you can check out all the bikes that sold by signing up.

Yeah Bob I've picked up a basket case 350 red hunter and am starting the process as soon as I build the shelves to store/sort the bits,i'll know better what I've got but the moment it looks like an iron head 350 and a alloy head 500.

Not sure what model this is but I saw it fairly cheap on a Bay Area CL ad.  I think they wanted just a couple thousand for the whole bike- mostly stored indoors.
Had to save the pics just to have them on the hard drive.

Gday Bill, looks like that one is a twin mate, the fours had the extra pipe exiting from under the head fins half way along the side of the head.....

Square four..



The first generation square fours only had the two pipes. This caused the front exhaust valves to get a bit too hot, thus the switch to 4 individual pipes.

Interesting, so  the top one is a  4 as well , there's a lot of differences between those 2 pics, thats why i thought it was a twin.  Either way, i would love one of those old fours.... ;D ;)

I am new to this forum and just happen to have taken several pictures of a drop dead gorgeous Ariel that I saw ridden to Bike Night last week.
I have seen many square fours but never one of these in the States before. Try not to drool  ;):

Back in the bad old days a customer/friend had a twin that was all original and the only major problem it had was the capillary line to the oil pressure gauge in the gas tank had cracked and some one had crushed end so it didn't leak other than that it was in great shape, all original all in good shape if the guy is still alive I bet he's kicking his ass for trading it on a Yamaha.

      Never saw one of those before. Very Cool bike indeed!  8) In fact, in all my years, I have only seen 1 Square Four and 1 Red Hunter and THAT'S It! Seen several Matchless, AJS and Nortons.
There were some pretty choice machines, back then.  ;)
