do you have to drop a pipe or both to remove the oil filter?

Dave, I have to drop the 2 centre pipes to access the oil filter, but that is not too much trouble to do.  It is a good trade off for the look in my eyes.

Dave, to be 100% honest you may be able to access it your way, I haven't had to access the filter yet so will be interesting to see if I can wiggle it out.

Here is my before and after. I could not find a picture of my actual bike when I got it, but this '76F is exaclty how I got mine, aside from mine having a Kerker 4-1 instead of the stock setup. The after is just about how it sits today.

Mods in this bikes future:
1. Triple Lockheed calipers
2. Triple thinned and drilled discs
3. Custom box section swingarm with eccentric adjustsers (like a Bimota swingarm)
4. Back to the Marzocchi shocks in the pic (currently has vintage Koni's)
5. Aluminum seat pan in place of velcro on seat cover
6. 35mm Betor flattrack forks - sprung/valved/refurbed and adapted for Lockheed calipers
7. ???
All you gotta do is do what you gotta do.

King, that bike is pretty sweet.  I really want a 550 to bob in a similar way but hopefully smaller with a shorter wheel base.  I may be getting a hold of you with some PM's once I get a donor bike to rip up.

You made me think about it after I cheered knowing someone else would like to know what these control freaks are up to.
Every time any owner strips whatever precious Honda part the horrified purists parts go up in value. That's not the part that bothers them.
What bothers them is they sat up late at night, their breast full of wonder and estrogen, unable to sleep, dreaming about their lovely darling and all her glory... and next thing you know someone else doesn't share their emotional deluge and their reaction is they must spread their mind museum as far as they possibly can, taking over as much of the real world as possible.

736cc  dude, you win!!  What a roach that thing was before.  Someone must have stored it under a smoke stack at a steel mill.  Looks awesome now.

Is that a stock seat just cut foam way down? or is it shorter in length too?  (73hutch)

OK I'll play too.  Submitted for your perusal are three photos, bike as was after aquistion, (a few years later because no other earlier pics exist), again, as was after a 23 year sleep (86~09) & before the resto began, and finally, as is now.

Nice! Our bikes are very similar in color Scott.  I am really liking the way this bike looks as a stocker in that color.  Makes me want a 2nd and a 3rd   :D
