Bob, I have been reading your build thread and I am in awe. First of all great job in all aspects of the build.  I am a big fan of turbos and 500/550's.  You took those two things and combined them and I love it.  I don't want to gm up this thread, but how is the bottom end torque affected by the initial restriction of the turbo?  Is it pretty laggy or does is spool up pretty quick?  Anyways, you win so far in my book, but who's keeping score  ::)
In most respects at lower rpm it runs just like a stock bike. It takes longer to fully warm up and idle properly because of the extra length between the carb and the valves but it's not at all hard to ride at low speeds.
I think this thread was a great idea and you are really getting a lot of response with some really neat bikes. I love it.
Bob

It began life as a 1973 CB500

Ended up a 1973 CB550/592

Wow.  Wasn't there an article done about that bike in some Canadian magazine?  I seem to recall one that looked similar.

I do not know about a write-up but that bike did win BOTM October 2007 - http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=26296.0

I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

I actually pictured you as big, blonde and slightly balding, Terry. I sure missed the mark.

Love the transformations.

I don't think that is Terry,I think it is his friend who had the accident and sold him the bike if I remember correctly from an old thread. Terry is actually a closet Amish who does not allow his picture to be taken for religious reasons  :D    Some GREAT transformations here, fun read and an inspiration I am sure to some in the process.

Ha ha, that's not me in the pic mate, that's Ken Piper, the builder of "Goldie" in it's previous life. If you look closer you'll see the scars on his knee where he took both kneecaps off when he crashed Goldie at 60 MPH. Here's a pic of me, you may remember me from such movies as "Mad Max"............  ;) (that's me on the left)

Hey hey hey hey! I don't look a bit like that now Eric, I shaved the beard off and had some work done, and I'm much better looking now! Okay, stop staring at me mate, let me see both hands on the keyboard............ ;D
