I did.  I looked back over the thread, and I didn't see anywhere you mention not wanting to remove the lower leg.  Any particular reason for avoiding this?

I have one from a 350 that I ruined to the point it will probably never come out.  I'm doing whatever I can to avoid that.  Doing the seal without taking out that allen bolt was the point of the "tips and trick."  I said FAQ I think..

Edit:  Well, I may not have a choice.  My bar clamp broke trying to get the other one out.

I'm sorry if I missed that.  I hope I didn't sound like too much of a jackass.  Leaving the spring in the tube, tube in the fork, and the appropriate metric hex bit socket helped mine come out fairly easily.  It did take some torque to break it looks, though.

Oh no, no offense taken.  I ended up having to take that allen bolt off.  I used an air gun and a 6mm impact allen key I bought from HF.  It nearly stripped out but it came out.  I got both forks back together and the wheel on.  Rebuild the master cylinder and bled the brakes.  Put the tach on it I got from another member here and I rode it up and down the road a few times.  Shifts through all the gears as it should and stops as it should.  I'm stealing the mirrors off my 550 since it's further off and hand painting the emblems this week.  I got the battery charging up right now.  I noticed the turn signals don't flash but other than a few small odds and ends I think it's about ready.

I hand painted my nasty emblems.  They don't look much better but hopefully they'll look presentable from about 10 feet  :-\  A current photo as well.  I charged the battery up last night and it started immediately at the push of the button.  Signals don't flash but the fronts come on when the ignition key is turned on.  I think I located the flasher relay under the tank.  I don't see any leaks from the master cylinder I rebuilt or the forks.  It held 9 psi over night.

Well, dare I say "done?"  I got it down the road twice this afternoon.  Ran great.  Headlight, tail light, turn signals, brakes all a go.  A couple odds and ends to be addresses but if I get hung up over odds and ends, I'll never be "finished" with any of my bikes.  The shakedown run will be to DMV some time in the near future.

I will.  Are you going to Barber's this year?  I also for got o mention I had some slop in the steering stem.  Very noticeable when you hit any bumps.  That stem nut (the one you need a hook wrench for) was so loose I could turn it with my fingers.  I snugged it it and it rides great.  Still got some work to do tuning-wise.  I'm hoping I can get the top of the carbs off with them still on the bike so I can move the needles..
