Thanks! the exhaust sound great at high revs and you can still hear the actual engine running while its idling. i will certainly post a vid of it running as soon as i get some decent weather to take it out again.
One word - INSANE! I love the air box & filter, and your drilled headlight mounts tie in very nicely with the rotors! Dig the use of the white, too. I could go on, but I don't want you getting a big head.

i didnt see the connection between the rotors and drilled mounts to be honest with you but from now on i will say i tried it! haha. as for the colours...i wanted a functional look...bare bones, and nothing says that like the colour white and metallics. i stuck with polished aluminum, aluminum powdercoat, silver, and white. and to tie it all together i added a pearl to the clear coat. it looks really nice in the sun as the frame tank panels shine!

hmmmm. prolly! i built it to ride but it is a possibility that rain could soak the filter and eventually suck into the intake. perhaps a prefilter would be in order.
Wow...looks great. I really like the small details on the bike. I do like the fresh air system that you made up. Shows a lot of thought went into this bike.
many many hours spent day dreaming before i even started the build. i wanted to capture something different with this bike so i decided that i would go "over the top" with a few details. the intake was one of them. i wanted it to look cool, be functional, and match. it matches the angle of the pipe and the frame support. the colour matches the spring, pinstripe, and seat stitching. i am surprised that people even like it being so "big"!
Very well done and very creative! Where did the oil tank go? Under the seat? I like the front end. How does it ride? Would love to see a video of it on the road.

the oil tank moved to the left and sits under the tail. i have a pic of it below. the suspension on this thing is unbelievable! it is stiff but absorbs every little bump with ease. i am so happy with it that it is hard to express. i can only compare it to a modern bike. i will record a video of it this weekend running so you all can see it and hear it working.

thanks for saying that! just imaging what i would build if i had a milling machine!!! i have a 1971 norton commando in the queue but im considering selling it to get another cb750. the bikes are brilliant, easy to work on, find, cheap, powerful, and the resources are insane. this site for example. everyone hear is always so happy to help out! besides, i may own the norton now, but i dont have the tools to do a damn thing on it which means a huge expense just to dismantle it. yikes!
Nice job on the bike. I like it all except for that big garbage can exhaust. Just a generational thing I guess.
obviously i like the pipe, but what do you suggest? i toyed with the idea of a 4 into 4, and a 4 into 2, but i settled on the 4 into 1 into a muffler that actually muffled rather than annoy the #$%* outta me.
Sweet build. How does it ride and handle with the modern suspension?
the handling is insane! very comfortable even with that thin seat. it doesnt dive under heavy braking and the turning is solid. i am so pleased with it considering i kinda 'winged" it with the mods to rake and trail.

cb porn eh? thanks a lot, cause thats how i feel when i scroll through everyones builds on here. i tried to document every detail of the build and will post a few pics below to show you all some steps (including the air box). the box is made from 3" aluminum square tubing. capped the sides, drilled holes to accomodate the 4 original box to carb flanges. the cones/stacks extend inside the box. i didnt cut them off. sheild? or fairing? its a piece i found in an old bike shop. i wanted a 'mad max" kinda a deal and it set me back a whole 25 bucks brand new! painted it and woohoo! the controls are off of a 2009 er6n 650, the rear sets are from a 'busa, front end from a 2005 ninja 636, rear end from an er6n 650 as well.
like i said, i have a lot of pics of the build so if you wanna see anything in particular i will post them.
as for BOTM...i guess we will see what happens.
heres some more pics:
this is the bike as it appeared in the classified. i paid 400 bucks and took me about 15 minutes to get running. very rough!
the frame before paint. all the gussetts welded in, new supports, rear shock mount, rear set mounts, and general reinforcements to the front to stiffen it up for the big front end.
frame after paint. shot a white, then clear, then clear with pear, and a final clear.
the engine after powdercoating but before reassembly. high heat white on the cylinders, gloss white on chrome covers, ultimate chrome on the aluminum side covers. the cases are done in a high temp muffler silver. eventually the motor got all gaskets and seals, rings, primary chain and tensioner, cam chain, guide and tensioner, clutch. it was in really good shape but those had to be done in my opinion.
the oil tank before polish. it sits under the tail on the left side, hold almost 3.5 litres, fabricated from 3" aluminum square tubing welded together. the fill sits under the tail section.
front stems from the cb and the 2005 ninja. i got the stem milled to match the cb and so it took the original cb750 bearings. bolted right into place. very easily. i had no idea this would work but it did. i took a shot in the dark when i ordered it all off of ebay. i won!
the airbox. 3" square aluminum tubing.
air box in place held by the motor mount/ignition switch bracket. that rear motor mount is one of my favourite pieces on the bike!
