Went to School today..
« on: September 13, 2011, 06:10:02 PM »
Got a real education in restoring a CB 500 today..that engine is heavy and awkward and hard as heck to get out of the frame, so I am sure I must have done something wrong, but the restore is underway and from the frame up.  I sure hope I can find all the parts I am gonna need for this job.
I guess there are not many similarities between this '77 CB550K and any of the other CB's so I am always looking for sources.  Now looking for a complete engine gasket set..anyone?  Also to anyone out there who has done one of these restorations.. are there still factory paint chips available for original colors?
Thanks

Welcome aboard, we like pics! :)  I've got a an original paint formula for the candy gold at home on my other 'puter, will send it when I get back.  As you can see, I didn't use it.  :o  Got my gaskets at the dealer, probably spent about $150 on all of the top end stuff, you can probably do better elsewhere I'm sure, but it was convenient & no shipping charges.
