Removed stator cover, now NO POWER
« on: September 18, 2011, 08:11:59 AM »
'76 cb750f, removed stator cover and gear box cover for polishing, marked wires, reassembled, now no power when I turn the key.  Bike ran great before, I have marked the three yellow wires and tried every possible combo, green to green, off white to off white, battery is good, fuses under left cover are all good.  Am I missing something simple?  Did I fry something?  What is the most likely culprit?  Where should I begin?

thanks

Unrelated failure of ignition switch?  There are only a small number of wires and components that can cause a complete failure.  See if power is coming off the battery to the switch then work your way out from there.  I like to use a light bulb and a pokey metal stick thingy to check where power is, and is not, within wires.

I'd still suspect the main fuse.  Just because it looks good doesn't mean it is good.

Where should I begin?
Verify your visual observations with an electrical test instrument.

Make sure of the wire color. White and yellow could get mixed up.
