New wiring harness from...
« on: September 18, 2011, 12:24:32 PM »
Has anyone bought the wiring harness from vintage750.com for their cb750?  I was thinking of replacing mine but I'm not sure if this is one of those EMGO jobs.  I hate for them to use the wrong gauge and have the thing fry on me like their ignition switches.  I can't tell who makes these.

I have purchased a EMGO ignition switch and had no problems.
Also the switch and wiring looked top notch.

I also bought one of their wiring harnesses. Looks great!!

Bike bandit shows an OEM harness for $191.00 US . I bought my OEM harness from Cycle World in Etobicoke about 10 years ago for $120.00 CAD . Try getting the part number and going to a Honda dealer . I go to the Milton Honda Power Center and they don't mind ordering parts for me as long as I can give them the part number . When faced with the choice of $75 aftermarket or $191 for OEM I'd probably go cheap .

Which 750 did you buy it for?

I have to do a full resto this winter (engine included) so I'll have to save money somewhere.  The price difference is enough that I'll consider going aftermarket.  I'm just hesitant because of their poor track record with ignition swithches.  I know lucky you had a good experience with them but many haven't.

Honda still sells the K0-K1 harness. For some reason..

For K3-6 you'll have to go aftermarket. (Or pay a king's ransom for a genuine NOS harness.)

That harness from VintageCB750 is the same one Partsnmore sells.

I have one of those harnesses in my K5 installed by the PO.
Harness looks good, proper gauge wire, good connectors.
I have had no issues.
