CB750- Identify mystery seal please.
« on: September 19, 2011, 07:32:37 AM »
We finished getting all the side covers on with their respective seals replaced. Oops, there's one left over. I've gone thru my parts book and racked my brain, can't think where this would go. I expect I'll find out when I start it and it pukes oil all over the floor.  ;D

Maybe I'd better ask and someone can asplain it to me.

It was in a seal set from Yamiya. I've used every other seal but this one. I know I'm going to feel stupid when someone tells me what it is.

Oh Man don't SAY that!  I had to check and that seal is in place. Whew!

The extra one is about that ID, but nowhere near the OD.

The extra one is 25 33 4mm.

Looks like the seal that goes under the starter clutch and rotor. I had that one left over too, last build. It is easy to miss. It is also easy to install, if you have found the easy way to remove the rotor.

On the crank? I don't see it in the fish for the crank or the starter clutch. Though you're probably right.

I do have the rotor puller. I just torqued the rotor on yesterday.  :(

Thanks everyone! Yes i found it on the starter motor fish page. I had a post-it note over it, with another msg. Don't know that i would have seen it anyway.

The starter gear i put on may still have had the old seal in it. But I've got to pull it to make sure and I'll put the new seal in and throw the bag away!

Thanks Again!
