Cb550 clutch
« on: September 20, 2011, 03:12:36 PM »
I was wondering if anyone had any issues with clutch freeplay on the cb550? Mine seems to work well(except for not being able to shift into neutral after riding for awhile) but there is no freeplay when the lever is pulled. The clutch just starts to disengage as soon as the lever is pulled and I have tried everything I could think of to adjust it to no avail. Please help or is this normal!?!

I have the exact opposite issue.  I have a ton of free play at the released end and none at the bar side.  It is moving immediately after it leaves the bar, no smooth transition.

I have tried a TON of different ways to adjust it, and some have helped better than others, but ultimately, it's still not where I'd like it.  I have started to wonder if it's the length of the aftermarket cable being a little long for perfect adjustment.

I'm sure someone will chime in for an explanation for you opposite issue...

Good luck.

If you adjust the clutch correctly then it likely is a bloody aftermarket cables. Try the real deal from Honda and feel the difference in lighter pull and smooth operation immediately.

I'm starting to suspect that's the answer for me.
