I joined the club / Any help in Pittsburgh?
« on: May 11, 2006, 06:02:24 AM »
Just wanted to introduce myself -- I'm from Pittsburgh and I just picked up a 72 cb350F. I have a 71 cb350 twin that's currently in pieces so I'm hoping to get the 4 running smoothly and bomb around on it all summer.

That said, here's my current situation. I picked up the bike and drove it home about 20 miles and it ran like a champ. Upon getting home I told my friend to hop on and try her out. We cranked and cranked and couldn't get it started. After about 10 minutes, being the geniuses that we are we figured out it was out of gas.

So I filled it up and it was running super rough. The two middle cylinders weren't getting hot at idle. I figured I sucked some nasty stuff in when I ran the tank dry and clogged some jets. Hoping I could get away without pulling the carbs for a cleaning, I threw some new plugs in and a half can of seafoam and after running it for about 20 minutes things seemed to be running ok. The next day I took her for a cruise and except for some hesitation/pulsing when pulling hard below about 5000 rpms she ran great.

The next day however she ran like hell. Backfiring when I shifted, stalling out when I would pull the clutch in. So it definetly needs some sorting. Does anyone have any reccomendations of somewhere to take it near Pittsburgh to get it gone over / inspected? I'm basically looking to get it in shape for the summer. I already have one bike in pieces so I thought I'd maybe let the pros handle this one.

Welcome to the board.  ;D

Like most of the bikes on this site when first accquired, yours seems to have some carb. issues that need dealing with. If you are gonna have it worked on, make sure the shop goes thru your fuel system/carbs and does a complete tune-up.
