Topic: 1975 CB400F Resto-Mod

So, as some of you already know, I picked up a 1975 CB400F in beautiful almost stock condition. Here she is the day I picked her up:
 



 
I had picked up another parts/project CB400F earlier this year, and it just happened to come with a set of Stock CB400F hubs laced with SS spokes to Aluminum Sun hoops.
 


 
I don't like the look of the stock turn signals and headlight bracket, so I ordered these:
 

 

 
And this tail light which I will tuck up under the stock seat:
 

 
The alloys are currently at the shop getting trued, new rubber, and balanced.

So I got the aluminums all trued up and balanced with new rubber. While removing the old bearings, I realized how odd the sprocket looked.
Upon closer examination, I found the letters NEP followed by "Tuff One"

Google to the rescue. A company called N.E.P. manufactured Tuff One sprockets in the 70's.  It is made of a nylon/plastic material and is 50% lighter than a steel sprocket. Here's to it actually holding up for me. Ha.

So I threw a new tail light and turn signals on the little 4.

I love the bike it's in great shape.   The tail light not so much, It just looks odd tucked up like that.
Try dropping it down a little.  Maybe it's the vast expanse of chrome fender hanging below it that makes it look unbalanced.

I hate the stock tail light assembly on these bikes but I think your's would look killer if you tweaked it a bit.

Thanks for the replay, Toxic. I agree that the vast amount of rear fender looks odd. My next plan of attack it to bob/shorten the rear fender.

I don't specifically know about a 400 but on my 750K I was able to bob the fender by removing the part under the seat.  It was easy to get the fender to mount up again.  This way you keep the rolled edge on the bottom lip

Justin,  like the turn signals, kind of agree with the long rear fender.  Take care...Larry
