Scrambler pipes for a 750?
« on: May 11, 2006, 10:17:16 AM »
Does anyone make the scrambler type exhaust pipes for a 750?

The kind that exit midway instead of down at the bottom?

You'll probably have to make them yourself or wait for something to turn up on e-bay.
I think I know the type you mean, saw a couple of choppers in the 70's with pipes coming around cylinders. Maybe find something from a 250/350 twin and get mirror imaged for the other side? (sounds expensive though)

I saw a 400F once that resembled a CL350, had the upswept (scrambler type pipes on each
side. Pretty neat looking. I don't have a clue where I saw it. I figure you'll probably have to make
them or have them made like pj said. I'm not saying that you'd never find them on ebay but, I
wouldn't hold my breath. If something like that ever did show up on ebay, don't you think it
would go kinda high? Well, that's all I've got. Later on, Bill

You could prob. have a set of pipes fabbed up for ya 4 a couple 100 bucks...
Would prob. be cheaper than buying two honda exahusts and trying to make them work...

My 4cents.....

I think scrambler pipes (like the old 250 and 305 scramblers) would be quite mind-blowing...I wish I'd thought of it before starting to replace my 4 into 4 pipes...

There are custom muffler shops who will bend stainless steel pipe [tubing] for a reasonable amount...you'd most likely have to take the bike in...and have an experienced professional do it...

Check out the hot rod clubs in your area...they'll know who can do it...might have to special order the tubing though...[bikes are way small]...

...Stock 1972 CL450 'Scrambler' also being re-assembled...

I have a guy local  (chicago area) that can make a set of custom pipes in about a hour. He did the chassis work/rollcage/exhaust
on my last racecar. Once I get the bike more situated, I plan to have him fab me up some one-off pipes for the CB..

Although not real scrambler pipes, Carpy made some cool pipes mounted high on either side of a Tracy-bodied CB750 conversion - the page below explains how he did it (scroll down for photos of the pipes):
