CB750- Need parts or suggestoins
« on: September 25, 2011, 09:00:36 PM »
The oil lines take ORings where they go up against the cases. Motogrid tells me unavailable. Any comments or clues? Ace Hardware OK?

I'd like to replace the "retainer plate" part of the clutch lifter, triangle with 3 steel balls mounted in it. Mine is really high mileage and can't find the one I should have from the parts bike. The balls are a little sticky. The cam plate that mounts in the cover could stand to be fresher.  New ones are unavailable from Honda.

My place for the o-rings, Cyclepartsnation, a local big box Honda store where I get free shipping -pickup shows them as a 15 by 2.5 for size.part # 91302-377-000 at $3.23 each. Big question is can they actually get them ??  Some items they do show unavailable but not these. ??

Yeah Motogrid showed them available too. Then I get this "ordered cancelled, unavailable" email from them.  I'll call CPN tomorrow. If they're a no show its ACE Hardware.

Those O-rings are the same size as is found in the oil filter kits we get: 15x2.5m. I have about 20 of them, as they also fit the oil pump.

I have a parts engine around here that I have to take down to get the pressure plate for another engine I'm building. If the lifter is good, I can take it out for you. This won't happen until maybe Tuesday, though.

Oh yeah. I also wanted some clues as to the location and orientation of the little rubber coated tabs that anchor the wiring in certain places. There is one on the oil pan, one on the rt side of the motor for the ignition wire, and one other someplace else i think. Maybe under the sprocket cover, which is another issue. The rats nest of wiring under there must have some rhyme or reason to it. I'd like to see a picture of it if available.

Mark, thanks. I think part of the problem is the part number has been superceeded into the ORIng you mention. So ordering the old number hits a wall. If its the oil pump ORing I've got a bunch of those new, so I'll double check.

As to the lifter. Primarily the part with the balls, that would be great. Assuming its lower mileage. Mine is so old the balls actually are a little rough on the surface, and don't move smoothly in the retainer. It would probably still work OK, but I'm looking for something better. The cam insert in the cover seems to have a little more wear than the cam part that's closest to the inside. I can live with mine, but better ones would be nice.

No hurry. Mines back together for now, its easy to swap out later.

Thanks!
