Hello All,
Akshay from Blacksburg, Va here.
I grew up looking at a CB 750 in India, and the image has been imprinted in my brain. Few months ago, I found a 1977 CB 400F with 8500 miles on it. The bike had been sitting since 1984, so Johnny, on this forum, helped me with a set of carbs. The bike now has new tires, new battery, new chain, and a new rider.
It came with really tall handle bars, but now it has lower bars.
Its still little rough around the edges, the starter switch kind of sticks, and I am still waiting on the side cover on the right side.
The only thing that is holding it back is a muffler. Right now it just has a straight pipe, but it is obnoxiously loud, and the friend who helped me in getting it up and running, said with out the back pressure from the muffler, the bike is not going to be fun to ride, as the engine has to work very hard.
The chrome areas have some rust spots, actually a lot, but I am just going to keep it clean as much as I can, and ride it.
I will post some images by tomorrow, but in the mean time, if you know a good replacement muffler, I would really appreciate it.
I was also advised to look for bigger size jet kit, any advice on that?
It has been a pretty painless experience so far, getting a non running bike, and bringing it back to life again, I hope it stays that way.
This is a great forum, thanks for all the advice.
Cheers,
Akshay
