Well as you may understand from that tiltle i like my classic rock , and now lately also i got my eyes opened to the wonderful world of classic hondas .
Who am i ? Im a 38 year old guy from norway, originally an electrican but now a realestate developer, since that is so much more fun (and so much more work , but lets forget that ).
This is actually going to be my first bikebuild ever, but not in any way my first build, just gone from four to two wheels thats all
I have always been into older stuff ( lets say classic shall we
) , my first car was i 57 beetle that i rebuilt from scrap when i was 18 , then i sort of stuck to the vw brand and did a good number of golf and jetta gti, gti16v and vr6 builds .
I have always done all the work myself so ill lay clame to beeing relatively handy , and it also helped that i worked a couple of years at a scrapper .
I have actually never been into bikes before , i never got that plastic crotchrocket need that some of my buds had ,but then last winter i started thinking about doing a project again , having been a few years since the last, but i just cant bring myself to starting a full car teardown, and buildup it simply takes to much money, space and time, i needed somthing i could get my head arround, so im thinking lets do a bike....
So i started looking arround for something that was ME , and quickly found something that really got my full interest -cafe bikes and the rocker culture, ok so i had the style , but what make of bike ?
After reading alot online on different forums and buildthreads, i found a lot of people claiming a true cafe bike had to be a norton , triumph or so on , but i really dont think they are right , the rockers would take the best they had and could afford, so in my mind a honda would be as real a cafe as any english or european bike .
In june i bought a 76 550f , in good usable condition , just had to do some small stuff like brakepads , and going over some of the electrical to get it to charge .
After that i have put a good number of miles on the bike , to get to know it(and love it ) and figuring out what to do when i start tearing it down in a couple of weeks when it gets to cold to ride more before spring
So noble fellows that is me, and my reason for beeing here ,is that i hope for your advise and support through this long cold winter , and i also hope that in time i can bring something to the table that you
will enjoy .
