swingarm spools
« on: May 10, 2006, 09:34:37 PM »
Anyone ever thought of putting on swingarm spools onto our bikes.  There is a nice spot for them on the lower swingarm in from of the chain alignments.  For those who have removed the centerstand this would probably be a good idea.  Pretty easy to setup and would allow for using a modern rear stand.

I have a rear stand with pads &/or spool hooks. The spools are a more positive fit but I need to be careful with my stand that the hooks don't scratch the paint off the swingarm.  It is a great option if you choose to remove the centrestand.

You using the Pit-Bull SS pad/spool stand?  Thats what I was looking at.  Be good for any number of bikes.

I've used those Pit-Bull stands in the past on my bikes....they work really good with the older bikes.

Later,

Can someone post a pic? I want to remove the center stand, but it's too valuable when working on the bike. I thought about a separate stand, but I didn't know how they work.

Thanks

Basically they lift the rear of the bike via the swingarm..

Ah, from the thread, I thought you needed to add something (a swingarm spool) to get it to work with an older bike. Anyone get one of these to work?

I'm thinking of putting on spools onto the swingarm as our swingarms are tubular and most moderns are square.  Both would work as they are adjustable but the spools would give a more positive lift without risk of slippage.  I have to measure the swingarm width and then get back in touch with pitbull to see what they say.  They offer regular and vintage width stands.  Hopeing I'll fit into the regular as it would be used with all bikes.
