hmmmmm.......not going to part out - as much as I could use the cash.  Bad ju-ju.  Bad ju-ju.
This will make the motorcycle gods happy.

If you decide you can't afford to restore it make sure to pass it on to someone who will.
This too makes the MC gods happy.   :)

This is mine.....that was his.  Believe me, he got an earfull.  It's all there - rusty, but there.

If I determine that it is out of my financial reality to restore it myself, it will go complete to someone who will.

Yep - it's the original wrinkle tank.

no brake lever dent in the pipes.. a VERY GOOD sign.. bet it has bagffles 8inches long.. funny looking ones..

 good score..
I would rather have a fairly correct sandcast with the wrong motor than the right motor with none of the other stuff.... yours is a 69 motor..(probably Sept or Oct)_
now do the right thing.. ask the guy where the motor went..

ignition switch, is it sunken in and black collar on the key?? smooth oil filter ?

Nice score. There appears to be alot of original parts on it. The airbox is probably a two hole air box. There is one on ebay now, alll cracked up, sitting at $400...will go higher. The motor appears to be a 69 diecast if it is 88XX.
The best advice to you is....do not throw out ANYTHING...no matter how bad, dinged up or trivial it may seem.
These are projects that take time to familiarize yourself with the nuances of how, what and where to get parts.

Good luck

Steve

+100!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing wrong with parting out.  There's likely many others looking for 1 or 2 more items to complete a restoration.  That's good karma.
Come on!  We're burning daylight!

Awesome score.. Not sure how you will handle this whether to part out or even clean up and turn to it around to sell for money if money may be a concern for you at the moment... Karma works in mysterious ways..... MC gods will understand if you are in need....

Just got back with it.   And it got better - the gentleman misread the engine number...IT'S A SANDCAST !!!

Gave me a bunch of other parts as well.   Missing both side covers - but, he said he may have them at his old shop.  Tank is a wrinkle tank and I can't believe the inside of it is MINT.  Only thing on the bike that isn't rusty.

The red seat foam is just gone, but there isn't a crack in the cover....go figure.    Lots of good, lots of bad.

Motor actually turns.  Electrical all seems to work.  Wiring harness is unmolested.   Carb sliders are free.

Oil filter cover is wrong...I think.

I think that only 1 or 2 of the pipes are useable.    Oh well, I'd have to buy those anyway.   9000 on the odometer.

Bike was a 2 hr drive away.    Every blue moon CL turns up a winner.   Just about the time I finish one, another seems to find its way to me.    They are all nasty and rusty - I guess all the pretty ones know I can only afford the rusty ones. ???

King - $6000 as is ???  Now way ??  Really ???    Tempting, but I think I'm going to tackle this one.

Got a thread started in the project section.  Stay tuned.

Yeah, I am confident that would bring 6K on ebay with worldwide exposure.  You never know who is looking at any given time.  All they have is a wad of cash, you have the bike.  When you get into the rebuild, expect it to fight you every inch of the way.  What I mean by that is everything is subtly different from the later models.  I just got my 11/69 diecast back on the road and it was a learning experience.  I loved it, and I hated it, we now have a relationship.........:-)

It looks like it would be a joy to polish up.... just take your time with that one, a little bit of history there. Maybe you can start working nights to pay for the parts? Awesome find, good luck!

Keep it !! If you don't you'll end up hating yourself Greenjeans. You've got a very rare bike just enjoy having it and working on it when you can and one day before you know it you'll be going down the road on it.
