Get that thing off the key.. dont ruin a 300 + dollar switch..
Its cleaner than mine(not anymore) was when I got it.. it was # 572... and i got it for same price as you did..

I ended up selling.. now you got to decide..
I will say this, I would just as soon have a KO, run it harder and worry less about it.. but that is just me..
you got time to think on it..

Congratulations!  Don't worry about the seat and side covers.  You can get top notch repros from Yamiya.  Spendy but the best.  You'll want to check out their site along the way.  I'll be watching your progress.  I'm excited for you too.

sandcast, not sandblast.  It was a form of manufacturing used when the 750 was new in 69 that left a rougher outside appearance to the cases.  Only significant because they are worth a sack of money to the restoration crowd.
To add to that, there were only about 7,000+ that were made with the sandcast cases. Hence there is a significant rarity premium.

Nice score! I too will follow your progress. Have fun with it, go slow and enjoy it. It's not the destination it's the journey to it that's the most fun.  ;)

Greenjeans you just hit the lottery my friend! I paid $900 for a non running 76 550. If you're short on money then don't be in a hurry. Do the things that don't cost much first. Dismantle it and clean it. Even if it takes 5 years to restore it you will be further ahead. Take your time shopping for parts you will find good deals when not in a hurry. All those pristine sandcasts that are selling for $25000 + now will be $35000 to $40000 by then. Especially with the low miles.

And frankly your bike looks way better than mine when I brought it home. Your engine looks cleaner than mine right now and I've gone through and scrubbed it a few times!

And most important? Start a blog with lots of pics so we can all see your progress. Already subscribed!
