Should I buy a CB350 twin?
« on: October 14, 2011, 02:12:29 PM »
If it's missin the exhaust, fenders, and possibly carbs?  It supposedly is in amazing condition otherwise. An old friend has it and I inquired about buying it. What should I look out for? How's the parts availability for these? It's a 1970 and I think I can get it for a really good price. Help is appreciated. Going to see it Sunday.

I have an all original '72 CB350 twin in excellent shape that I purchased a few years back for $1000.
With those parts missing, and assuming it's titled and running, I'd pay about half that.
They are fun bikes though.

edit: Nevermind, I just re-read and saw mention of carbs not included. Thus, it wouldn't be running. Those parts are going to be (most likely) on the pricey side (the exhaust and carbs in particular).
Unless you could pick it up for a few hundred bucks, I'd pass.

That's what I thought but I saw that you can swap them with mikunis which I found for around $200 new. I'm hoping to get the bike for around $200. Are the mikunis a direct bolt-on anybody? Batman, superman, Hondaman?  I just wanna know if any major parts are unobtainable before I jump on this thing.

I own a CB350 & they have lots of parts avail. ....it's just a question of waiting & looking for them, but they are Definitely out there. Mikunis will eat a lot more gas & give you a lot more perf.,but they will need to have jetting work to dial them in.
The bike runs the best w/ the bolt on stock O.E. parts...at least for the "long haul, less tweaking" crowd like me.
I'm looking for a 1972' CB350 frame w/ title(vin# CB350-4.......)because mine is bent;
if you hear of a deal on one, please let me know;I live in Pa. & they are Very tough to try to register a bike w/o a title.
75' CB400F/'bunch o' parts' & 81' CB125S modded to a 'CB200S'
I love the small ones too !
Do your BEST...nobody can take that away from you.

You bet! I rode my little 350 and it was a blast. It's getting a complete redo now so it will be down for a while.

Carburetors are pretty reasonable on flea bay. Some parts almost impossible to find. I ordered new repo mufflers from David Silver Spares in the UK. Exact copy for $117.00 each. Dang dollar ain't worth nothin. There are some nice ones here from members that need little work.

Oh, Larry! Got the rear brackets. Thank you.

i have a set of carbs here and a decent set of head pipes, but no mufflers. i have perfectly straight fenders too, but the chrome is pitting some. I actually have a whole parts bike, so if you pick this thing up, and need parts let me know.

Thanks for the help guys but this thing was a fail. It is in far worse shape than I thought it would be unfortunately. I think I may still pursue one of these if the price is right though. I found another close by and may look at it on Wednesday. Thanks again!
