CB650 Regulator/Rectifier work on 72 CB750?
« on: November 08, 2006, 05:27:57 PM »
Hi,
Customizing my 72 CB750 this winter and have a question. I parted out a 1980 CB650 a while back but kept the combination regulator/rectifier. Can I adapt this to work on a 72 CB750? Not too worried about wiring as I am going to build a harness. Does anyone have a wiring digram for the conversion? ::)

Thanks for the help,
Jeff

It can be done.  Both bikes have electromagnet alternators.  However, the wire colors won't match, because on old vibrating point type regulators like the old 750's, the regulator is wired on the power side of the alternator's field coil, while on electronic regulated systems like the 650's, the regulator is wired on the negative side of the alternator's field coil.  I can help you with the color mismatch if you are interested.   :)
