Carbs are off, I have soaked them today and am just going back together with them. Hope to have it running tomorrow. the tank is pretty clean, and it looks as though one of the plug wires is bad. But other than that, I'll put the carbs on and see what happens.
Man I'll tell ya, it's almost too nice to cafe, with only a couple of dings.

the first one looks like serious frame mods went on. Second looks to be a nice 75 or 75 550F. What kind of shape is the muffler on that one?
Its a bit rusted, I'll get a close up pic so you can see. Oh yea, and the "chappa" is a hard tail, so low it doesnt need a kickstand, Just got it for the 550 motor, the rest is going away.

You may want to look up Scott S build of his 500 with a 550 engine. Your bike is sweet looking. Don't cut it up.

Thanks I will...I kinda thought that would be a good direction to go. All those 550s and only one 500 titled.

Yea I got that impression. I'm thinking, that for this season, I'll ride it as a 500, while I get the 550 power plant ready to put in next winter. You know I still have a 400 to finish for my wife, so I must stay focused...At least tomorrow...I must stay focused ;D

So I rebuilt the carbs on the new cb500. took 8 carbs and made 4 good ones. But after installing the carbs, the 500 wouldnt start, not even with carb clean...no spark, had power to the coils, and the points were adjusted and in good shape, so after replacement of the coils, the engine fired right up :D

I took off those funky "shadow" mufflers and installed a pair of "pea shooters" and some pod air filters. Took it for a short ride ;D, WOO HOO!!! Probably needs to be jetted, but those pipes sound great!

Did some little work to the cb 500. I took the bent up front and rear fenders off and installed a shortened rear fender and cats eye tail light on. the bike rides like a dream, though it needs to be re-jetted, badly.

Yea, it is a 500T tank. I love the way they look, they have the same line as the seat pan. I got another from a SOHC member for my CB500.

So I've been riding my 500 for the last week w/o plates...only in rural Colorado... But had to get legal, and no mount! So I had this, dont know what its from, tail light mount.

I've got one of those pea-shooters on my CB400F and I too think it sounds great. Glad you like them.

Thanks Rick, I looked up your bike on one of your older posts, very nice. You said its a 400, and it looks like a 350 tank, thats a nice size and shape. I dont much care for the shape of the 400 tank, thats why I went for the 500t tank.
