Preferred brand of Pod Filter
« on: May 12, 2006, 08:38:23 PM »
Hey all:

I was just going to add a K&N to my stock airbox, but since my new pipes will cause me to also rejet the pilots I figured I might as well try pods.

Carbs are a pain in the ass to take in and out, the pods will make this much easier.

What "brand" of pod is known for high quality?

Where to buy it?

I have seen them on ebay and on some other sites but I fear they are not high quality.  Does K&N make pods?

Thanks!!

Zeke

I had some K&N pods years ago on my CB500K.  Were kind of beat up, but they worked well.  They were not cone shaped like many today - just plain cylinder shaped, which fit well on the 500/550.  Some of the newer conical shaped ones are too tall to fit a 500/550 frame - carbs 1 and 4 are problematic.

I am running v-stacks with no issues.
As far as I hear, the K&N "pods" are the best.
Beware of the crappy cheap ones everyone hates....

The little bit of research I've done on pods shows K&N to be the best. They're one of the most expensive but I understand they're worth the extra $. Biggest complaint I've heard is wind at higher speeds affecting how the bike runs (stumbling and surging).
