Laid down my baby :(
« on: September 29, 2011, 04:00:07 PM »
So... cruzin up franklin st. in san francisco today when the guy to the left of me decides to make a illegal right hand turn. Luckily i was actually going the speed limit. no time to brake, let alone find the horn, so there was some screaming as i hopped off the bike and let it go under. No real damage to me, nice bruise where i landed on my leatherman, in the shape of my leatherman... bike has been better, points cover exploded on one side and sheared the bolt on the other side, trashed the points plate. snapped the brake lever off my new tarrozi's. #$%*ed up one of my new mirrors. front end is all tweaked again. some more scrapes to add to the character. Could have been worse all in all. i got a witness so i should be good on getting the bike fixed... i hope.

Damn man, I'm sorry to hear.  Glad you'll be getting it fixed, though, and that you're alright.  I had a close call earlier this week where my brake torque arm came loose and almost threw me off the bike at 85mph, ruining the brake rod, plate, shoes, and arm. And today I discovered my cylinder #1 is toast and can't be bored any larger.   #$%*ty week for both of us  :-(

Fuuuuuuu!k. Seems like anything with more than 2 wheels has it in for your bike. What's damaged on the front end? I've got an extra points plate with everything on it. I'll be in the citay maybe tomorrow, and definitely on sat.

Thanks all... Could have been much worse, so I'll just count my blessings and try not to say stereotypical racist things.

Gemini- so far I think the front end is just tweaked, but I won't know until I can strip it down. Gotta wait to hear what his insurance company wants to do first.'as for the points plate... Depending on what happens, I might just pick up a dyna. But I'm keeping you in mind!!! Thanks for lookin out! Hopefully I can pick up my shovelhead this weekend and still roll with you guys next week!

Sorry to hear about Y.A.C/A.  Glad you have minimal damage to both you and the bike.

You might be thinking that engine guards aren't so stupid, after all. :D

In a way, I like hearing reports like this.  Keeps me from considering driving into the city.  ;D

Sorry to hear that!  I laid down my 650 not two weeks after spending a month and a half rebuilding it.  It was my own fault though...
