rear wheel compatibility. cb350 to cb550
« on: May 12, 2006, 11:51:15 PM »
I have a 78 CB550K.
I am in need of a rear wheel. a few spokes are bent and the hub is cracked on mine. I've been searching around my city (Toronto), but all I've come up with is a CB350 rear wheel. I know  the '77 and '78 Cb 550 rear wheels would be ideal, but with either adding spacers or changing the rear sproket and chain size, using the Cb350 wheel may be compatible????  pleease let me know.

You might try calling Clare's Cycles in Fonthill. They had a pretty good parts guy with lots of used parts connections (in years past).

Anne - I have a rear wheel off a 750 if that would help - I live near High Park.  I have a front for it as well.  I've never really compared it to my 550F's rear wheel, but will.

Let me know if you'd like to have a look, or if anyone here can comment on compatibility, let me know.  If it fits, you can have the wheel.  Anything to get another old Honda on the streets of Toronto  ;D

350 wheel would probably work but its smaller and lighter than the 550 wheel. It would probably be safer to modify a 750 wheel (the 550 has a crappy brake drum anyway, always cracks up)
