Seat Pan
« on: September 29, 2011, 07:43:09 PM »
I'm looking for a stock seat pan for a 74' cb550. Does anyone know what other year or models will fit. I found a 76' pan at a junkyard, thought it would work. The mount and the lock line up, but the seat sits back about an inch to far. any recommendations?

Welcome to the board.  As for the pan, 74 to 76 K models should be the same but the F model is different.  You didn't indicate which you have , F or K, but sounds to me that you need to do a little model research.  For the differences in F's and K's try the model guide:

Yep. The seat pan you found is for a 76 550F. The 550F bikes had a fuel tank that was a bit longer. For direct fit, you need a seat pan from a 71-74 CB500 or 75-76 CB550K. I suspect that the 77-78 550K had the same longer tank as the F models.

Sometimes a great way to find just a cheap seat pan is to grab up one of those Fugly King and Queen seats for cheap. They were converted over using the stock seat pans on all I have dealt with. ;)

I don't think the early 500s fit the 550s. I would just stick with 550K seat pans.

Thanks for the welcome! Glade to be apart of the forum. I checked the frame and engine #'s,  and it looks to me that it is a 75' cb550 K1. candy jade green- oh yea! Kinda strange, the title and the production date say 74'
