This thread needs some new life.
I adopted my first cat back in 2007 when she was 7. Poor little thing had had a rough life and took a while to build trust.
Through three women in my life and even one #$%* cat terrorizing her (... got the boot along with the girl who owned him), she was my buddy until an acute trombosis claimed her at 15.
I was lucky to be home when it happened, even if all I could do was rush her to a vet, who could do no more than minimize her suffering.
Not being home much at the time got me thinking though - and I decided the time wasn't right to get another.
Wait, I said something about new life didn't I?
Fast forward to 2019/2020... Moved to Amsterdam. Less commuting, more time at home with a keeper... aaand she wants a puppy.
... Uhhh no thanks, not my cup of tea. Fortunately she admitted to also liking cats, so that was decided then

("Wait what? Oh... okaaay...")
Enter these two.

While everyone wants kittens around xmas, there are also cats that become "too much" when children are on the way, allergies are discovered, things like that. I like to keep a few of those out of the shelter, rather than jumping on the "cute kitten" bandwagon.
These two have a story like that. They're brother and sister, both sabotaged and checked out. Owners are honest to a fault and definitely made a difficult choice letting them go.
So I rednecked a pair of cat carriers from parts storage crates

and will be picking our new buddies up in the morning!
