Well all, I just read that Godzilla has united the SOHC4 masses and guests. He has completed his original mission by riding 48 US states, DC, and 7 Canadian provinces. He has spent 6 months and 18 days on the roads of our wonderful North America with the best people in the world - SOHC4 MEMBERS and guests. Can I hear a collective H E L L  Y E A H !! He has left an indelible impression on everyone. He has united members and guests that didn't know one another. He has caused many old bikes to once again hit the road of enjoyment and fullfillment. Many of these bikes had never been in such a good state of repair as to accomplish this nor had they been on the road for more than a few miles. Their riders perhaps had never done a real road trip before either. We are one. We are united. We have one cause. Our love of everything SOHC4!! All this was my original intent and I certainly hope you enjoyed your little ride  ;)  ;D

And now, drum roll please, on to the rest of the world - look out New Zealand and Australia - Godzilla will be heading your way soon. YOU WILL NEVER BE THE SAME!  8) Lock up yer daughters, lock up yer wives, lock up yer sheep and run fer yer life. Oh wait a minute, Those crazy Aussie rockers AC/DC never mentioned yer sheep did they  ;) Yeah, they'd better look out too because GZ is baaaaad. AND YOU CAN DO NOTHING TO STOP HIM!  ;D

It's been my pleasure!

HELL YEAH! Looking forward to following GZ's exploits around the globe. As our International members pick up the torch for the global segments of the 1st Annual relay, we can start planning the 2nd one! I'm thinking of a photo op at the "Southermost" point of the U.S. down in Key West might be a good start... might take the some arm-twisting to get me to ride down to Key West though... (t.i.c)  ;) ;D 8)

Maybe even start out in SoCal and work East? Keeping South for the 1st trans-continental pass, just like the first one, only different. Have to start plotting new routes!

Congrats Jerry. It must be nice to see the mission almost complete. Have you a head count of all who have participated thus far?
I'm looking forward to the Aussie arrival.

Wilbur,

I have to give a special thanks to you for kicking this off. Without you it would never had happened! I'd love to be with you at that marker before and after sucking down brews at the Green Parrot close by. We were there in October and that 5552 mile ride got me in the mood to plan for this! I'd like to bet that Honda will make a better point of finding YOU next time after this!

Fantastic work, Jerry, and all the rest of you who organized, agonized, planned and just plain cheered it all on! It's been a blast seeing GZ ride.

The bike on the cover of my book has apparently been purchased by an NZ rider who is shipping it Down Under. Maybe GZ could ride with?
See SOHC4shop@gmail.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

I had a thought and it appears I'm not the only one. Hats off to you Rxman for seizing the idea and putting it in motion in a way that made it belong to every single person. Your brand of oversight, cheerleading, whipcracking, and faith made it possible and truly a joy to be a part of. T'is a rare multinational event of this scope that has no sanctioning body, entry fee, or rules. We had no schedule, no entry fees, no liability, no paperwork, and no responsibility except to each other. Truly amazing. We've got a good thing going- Let's celebrate by not stopping!
If we're going trans continental, and down under, what if G'zilla travelled overseas with a SOHC bike or parts being shipped to his next starting point? Just an idea, but that's how all this started in the first place, eh?

Is it that georgous Golden CB750 HM?
Dang I can tell you it is not coming my way unfortunately (I couldn't afford the $20,000 which I do hope HM charged) :-[
Eagerly awaiting GZ but with some trepidation as we cannot really connect the riders until he arrives and I can give riders dates.
Big ups to the USA and Canadian riders who made the rides, truely a massive effort and as we suspected these 30-50 year old machines proved that they can still cover such great distances which I guess is the whole point of the GZ exercise.
Many will have found their bikes limits and their own riding abilities, now you can be ready for the next ride. ;)
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Great job Jerry.

No small feat to get us all together on the same page, and keep this thing rocking the way it did.  No question, the best part of the process was putting (screen) name to faces, shaking hands with those that we only know from the forums, and be able to thank then in person for the invaluable help we all get on here.

When are you shipping? Has the purchaser been notified about the Relay?

It's not my bike: I sold it to a rider in Englewood just after it was finished. He has fallen on hard times and sold it on CR, where the NZ rider found it (and contacted me for the build details). I'll see if I can get in touch with the owner (Brian) and see what the schedule is like.

Didn't get to make this Relay, work, remodeling, and a few disasters got in the way.  But I followed it weekly and applaud all who participated or coordinated the ride.  Super effort from all.  Since retirement is only a couple of years away and the 550 is on schedule to ride again this coming spring I would hope that this could become at least a bi-annual event.  That way I could put in some saddle time as well.  Seems like a lot of bikes got completed for the ride, folks got together, met new friends, and in general furthered our passion for these old ladies.   It would be a pity if this were a one time event.  Too much good has come of it and it still has a lot of miles (kilometers?) to go.

Really worked out as a rider to rider commitment and a true testament to how great our old bikes are..... would not hesitate to do it again, oh and, I believe I'm right in saying no one participating got hurt even slightly ( 1 guy dropped his bike on gravel ? ) for the whole Relay.... fantastic !!
One more thing, no other 'brand' of motorcycle, old or new has done such an enduring relay ride and probably never will ( until we do an even bigger one  :) ).  SOHC'ers... we rock  ;D
