 ;D  We don't need no stinkin' papers main!  But, I do need a license plate ;)  They're pretty serious in California about the big three if you get pulled over: License, Registration, & Insurance

I do want to crank the hell outta this thing though!  But, I've got the turbo bike to keep me busy in the shop for now I guess.

Registered & Ridden!  WOOOOHOOOOOO!  Spent under $100 at the DMV for registration/new plate...Sweet!  Took her out for her maiden voyage, and she performed flawlessly...was my first ride on a 750 too!

Greggo is no longer a 750 virgin! It will feel a little odd riding the 500 after the 750, but will still be fun.

Haha!  I guess I was having too much fun and forgot  ;D  The seat is dynamite.  Anyone thinking of buying one, let me tell you it is the best motorcycle seat I've ever sat on.  For the rest of the bike, what a different, but similar beast to the 500/4.  I know this bike has some cobwebs to blow out, so I didn't put it through the ringer, but it has such a different feel from my other daily rider.  Way more low end grunt, which is nice, but I like the zippyness of my 500/4 with a 650 cam much better.  Don't get me wrong, I can see where this 750 would feel much more secure going down the highway compared to the smaller bikes.  And, that low end grunt can be very helpful.  But, it feels as heavy as a Harley when I have to roll it around.  Feels much heavier on the road too.  I'll ride it for a month or two and see how I feel.  Still a few bugs to work out anyway. 

Which one do you like better Stev-o?

I like them both for what they are.
The 750 (and 836) are great on the the road, plenty of power and feels solid even when a truck blows by. I don't feel that on the 550 and one reason I wanted a bigger bike again when all I had was the 550.
On the other hand, the 550 is a blast around town and in the tight twisties! Feels so lightvand can easily be thrown around and pushed to the limit, something I really don't do with the 750. 
It's great to have both and to have the choice of what to ride on any given day.

That gold 750 looks beautiful mate, good job! I have to laugh though when I hear the "Ballerina-esque 550 vs sherman tank like 750" banter between you guys, you don't know what heavy is! Here's a pic of a really heavy bike, my Triumph Rocket III. It weighs in at a massive 704 pounds dry, which I think is pretty close to 2 CB550's?



The good thing is that it's 2300cc's, and makes 141 BHP/147 ft lbs of torque, at the back wheel. If it fell over I'd probably need a crane to lift it back up again, but because the seat is so low compared to even a 550, it's a cinch to roll around. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Ha ha, yep, with me on it and some gas and oil etc, it's well over 1000 pounds of big heavy mother, but surprisingly the gas mileage is really good, with modern fuel injection it gets around 46 MPG on the highway, which is better than a stock CB750, and way better than my worked 836.

The output shaft bearing collapsed, apparently, because some numbat in the factory put it in backwards, with the oil seal facing inwards, not outwards. I'm still not happy about that, but if there's an upside to the story, they also installed the free factory "Upgrade Kit" which takes my 2007 model to post 2009 spec, which means that any other sub standard components from the first 5 years of production have now been replaced, so by now, it should (finally) be close to bullet proof. Once the weather warms up sufficiently, I'll find out! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Drove an hour for some HM300 pipes this morning.  Guy lived right next to the Apple 'Campus'...it was HUGE!

The pipes are great for being used.  All chrome is 98% perfect besides one pipe damaged by battery acid  :( ::)





Now I need some heat shields.

Only had a little time at the shop today, so I put the HM300's on, and they look and sound GREAT!  Also threw on a new speedo cable, and the speedo works.





(Yes, I know the tail light/license plate is off kilter)

Hell Ya!!  The tach looks great, which is what I really needed.  The speedo is a K&L, and the face is loose inside the gauge, but I've got a nice 550 speedo that matches perfectly.  They're going on the 500/4 with the 650 cam.  It hasn't had a tach since I put the cam in, so I know I'm missing out on some fun shifting a little early.

Thanks guys.  I haven't fixed the tail light because I think I'm going to ditch the whole fender, and go with a Lucas style light.  I'll probably use the mounting holes at the back of the frame for some small blinkers, and a mounting strip for the brake light/license bracket.  I'm gonna ditch those stock mirrors and get some round bar ends like Tweakin has, or some '80's super bike mirrors similar to the ones on my 500/4.

What kind of blinkers?  Don't go too modern on us, will look out of place. Like the idea of the smaller tailight.
