What is this in my handle bars??
« on: October 03, 2011, 09:49:53 PM »
I went to put my new bar end mirrors on, cut the end off my throttle side grip and found this in the end of my bar. Also the end of the plastic piece of my throttle sticks out about 3/4 of an inch past the end of the bar. What is this thing?? It's a 74 cb750, thanks for the help.

It's either a bar end weight to reduce vibration, or someone mounted bar end before, the left the stub after the mirror broke off.

And you'l have to trim the throttle tube slightly (and the rubber grip), either with a fine toothed hacksaw or a Dremel tool. Just enough to clear the end of the handle bar. Make sure the grip doesn't catch on the mirror and cause the throttle to stick.

You may not have to trim the throttle tube.  Is there any room to slide MC and throttle grip in? Are these the stock parts?

Gordon is right. I should have said you'll have to trim the throttle tube IF you're using the stock locating pin. Otherwise, just slide the control in.

So this is what it is/was.....looks like a weight/vibration reducing dewhickey???? There's one in the other side too.  I think I'm just gonna order some superbike bars and start fresh.
