You can try the bus but it is a bit of a swim from the station to the island ;)

Kind of in a different vein, but this is a true story, witnessed by my brother in law at the Walmart in Springville, NY.

A couple young kids came in and were too dumb or lazy to walk in where they were suposed to, instead they pushed their way the wrong way through a checkout line. There was an older couple in line behind my brother in law, maybe 70 years old. When they pushed through, they bumped/jostled the old woman. Her husband said "Didn't you parents teach you any manners, don't you know how to say excuse me?" One of the kids said "F#ck you old man!". The guy, incredulous, said "What did you say?" The dumb kid stopped and repeated it, in his face "F#ck you old man". The old guy knocked him out with one punch, LOL. The cops were called, my brother in law told the cop he saw the whole thing, the kid deserved it, and offered to testify if needed. He never heard from anyone, he doesn't know how it turned out, but the kid was still unconscious when he left. One of my all time favorite stories, I can be driving down the thruway, and think about it, and laugh out loud.
