400F motor in ??
« on: October 04, 2011, 08:44:45 PM »
Hey folks; I picked up a 1976 cb400F this past weekend  ;D with16,xxx miles. Although it's physically pretty much complete, unfortunately  it didn't come with a title  :( . So I'm wondering, if I can't get it titled, what other bike frames will this motor fit in? I know (being a welder/fabricator) that I can make it fit in anything. I'm asking what frame will this simply bolt into without any modifications? Like I said I can Make it fit into anything. I even thought about putting it in the 'ol ladies dead Rebel 250 frame, but she said sell the Rebel and get a frame for the 400F. So I'm lookin for options.   Thanks,   ...cougar...

First off, call your local DMV and inquire on exactly what needs to be done to obtain a title.

In Texas, a bonded title is relatively simple and costs about $125.

Stev-o; I will be contacting my local DMV, but in Kentucky it's difficult to get them to do much of anything. I bought a parts cb750 last year and was Only able to find out through DMV that the title was still "active". They "couldn't" tell me whose name it was in because of Kentuckys "Privacy" law.    ...cougar...

Straight in would be 400 and possibly 350 four. Anything else willl be mods and special bracketry

Another vote for the ruckus! That'd be fun, and hilarious at the same time.

Hey socal ; I think I'll be able to find something to put it in over the winter  :D , sorry. I brought it home Sat. night tinkered with it a few minutes Sun. . Went back to it today and got it hittin' on all for  ;D ! Sounds pretty solid . Hell the oil light goes out after it turns over twice and fires right up when it's warm. Even cold doesn't take much and I've only spent maybe a couple of hours with it.  ...cougar...     BTW, no Ruckus  ;D ;D

Its not really that hard to get a title in most states if you have a bill of sale.
