Hello, My name is Donny. I recently bought this 1978 CB750K. I'm going to attempt to build a nice cafe racer. The bike looked clean when I picked it up, but after I took it apart it was a different story, but that's okay. I never attempted anything like this before, but I've learned so much from this site. I going to try to do everything myself with the exception of powder-coating. Anyway, It's nice to be here.

Back for the powder-coaters

I invested in a lift, much easier on my back.. Anyway, I cleaned painted and POLISHED like a mad mad. I had to strip all that paint off the upper motor. I may have gotten a little water in the intake. (Does anyone know if that will be a problem?)

Update on my garage bike project. Basically a lot of polishing and painting. I know I'm missing the wheels and tires. I'm working on that now. Waiting on a Joker Billet triple tree, and other billet parts from them. I'm going to start on the tank next, gonna try to bank some knee dents myself.. little worried about that. I hope to be done by spring. I'm already planing on my next project.

About that water....
Just remove the engine oil drain plug and it would have went right to the bottom of the sump.

Just a quick update. I got some of my parts I ordered from Joker (Brake Bar, and Guage). I also attempted to bang in some knee dents. Tomorrow I will attempt to use some body filler. I'm a bit nervous because I am no body guy, but I really want to do as much as I can. Still waiting for the Joker Triple Tree. Thanks and Take care

Quick question. The brake bar(strap) on Jokers site lists up to year 76 but I see its on your 78. Is your swing arm stock and did it go on without issue?

Hello, I had the same worry.. I called them and they said it should fit, if not send it back. They are really cool people there, spend time to talk to customers. To answer your question my swing are is stock, and it went on without an issue. I looked at the pic on their website and it looked that same as my "K" so I went for it.

Well Ill be... Thx. I read another thread a few days ago where it seemed the straps were not year interchangeable because of the length and the mount at the swing arm.

Just an update.. I got my spokes in the mail and I decided I would give lacing and truing a go. Man, it was a learning experience. Anyway, I got the original tires mounted so I can have a roller. Now I can park my car with ease in the garage. I'm still waiting for the triple tree. I am dreading the electrical harness. I am placing the battery in the hump. Is it possible to cut and extend the harness so it would reach behind the seat?

I'm not in love with the rear tire... I think it's too big. I'm going to change it.

Yea, the proportions look a little rear heavy. I went up to an 18" in the rear on mine. 110/90 front and 130/80 rear and it think it looks pretty balanced.

I don't see a problem. Once you put the rest of the bike together, I don't think you'd notice.

Im sure it is. I used excel rims laced to my stock hubs. Well actually I got a 75 front hub on mine but same thing. You could use a smaller profile rear tire using the 17 inch rim but that will effect ride height and slow your turn in some.

The electrical harness on this bike is VERY easy. Don't worry.
