RIP Steve Jobs
« on: October 06, 2011, 05:32:13 AM »

Steve Jobs was a genius and a visionary.  He was probably the single greatest inventor to grace the world since Thomas Edison or Nikola Tesla.  Plus, he rode a Motorcycle. Love the pic of him on that old airhead.

Now that I'm at a COMPUTER.... He doesn't JUST have to be a hero to mac users. He was an innovator on many different levels. Although Douglas Engelbart invented the mouse, Steve Jobs is the reason PC's and Mac's and whatever else you use has one. He pushed it on the naysayers and made it acceptable and truly eased our computing experience.

He lived a hundred of our lifetimes.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

That's going a bit far I think, closer to Edison than Tesla. Tesla was a true genius, Edison not so. Jobs was a very astute marketer and salesman who's biggest contribution was to convince people to pay for things they otherwise got for free. Woz was the genius.

I admire the guy for his business prowess, that's for sure. RIP.

Well, one might think the Pope died, but then I'm not a Mac user. At least it pushed the Amanda Knox story off the front page.  ;)

I am not a Mac user.  I don't use an iPhone either.  I know that the User interface on Windows computers would not have developed as quickly if not for Apple.  I also wouldn't have my Android phone, and social communication via hand held devices probably would be nothing like what we have today.  Jobs created things that no one knew they wanted until he made it.  Granted, the fanboys would buy the iturd if he produced it.
