Long story short, I rallied all day on saturday and sunday and got the bike pretty much completely together.

The best part is SHE RUNS!!! I have a video I will upload. All cylinders are firing and other than being out of synch she sounds pretty good.

Unfortunately my rear tube was on backorder (which I was not told ) so when that gets here on wednesday I can finally mount and balance the new rear tire, then hopefully get the new chain on and take it for a ride! I can't wait!

When I saw this pic I had to run out to my garage to be sure my K6 was still here with me. Yes Candy Antares Red how sweet. One good looking K6 , great work hoo. When you headed to Greensboro, North Carolina for a visit so I can check out your K6 in person

This one is not going anywhere!!!

I truly apologize for not updating this. I want to at least do a video and post it tomorrow. I'll do a proper update with all the gory details at some point. For now just know that the bike runs and drives great!!! No leaks, she's nice and smooth. A bike that sat that long and was so crusty has no right to be so good.

It was a great day at the races today with my dad on the K2.

Dang she looks great! You should find a picture of her when you first got her and post it next to how she stands now!

Quick question...... I am trying to sync my 750... The carbs angle for the 2-3 carb bodies make it difficult to hook up the brass fitting. How were you able to do that?

Those brass fittings are a real pain. I have two short ones and two long ones. I was able to put a short one on the #2 carb using a deep well 1/4 drive socket and extension. I had to slip the fitting/socket in first before attaching the extension.

The #3 one is the worst for me. It took me at least a dozen tries to get it started. I think I used a short one for that too. I was using my fingers to turn it and a dental pic down the hole to keep it steady. I tightened it by slipping a needelnose pliers in the hole and turning it little by little (if that makes sense). That darn choke linkage really gets in the way.

Yep, thats what I was able to do. I was able to use the short ones for 2 and 3 but then to attach the tube was impossible. I did my usual calm down and walk away problem solving skill. I will try to sync tomorrow... Now another dumb question. What do i turn to sync? the top under the rubber covers? I know how to do my 550 but these carbs are different

you turn the stuff under the rubber covers. the smaller nut is just a lock nut and the larger nut is what you turn to do the adjustment. If you've done your 550 then you already know how annoying it is to get it in synch but then have it go out of whack when you want to tighten anything down.

Bike looks great Trevor! Big difference in before and after pic's. Was your video made before or after the carb sync? She quit smoking after the rings got some exercise? Thanks again for the screaming eagle side covers eventhough they no longer scream.

Thanks! I was surprised at the fact that this bike doesn't seem to smoke at all. It did on the first startup but I had wd40 in the headpipes and oil in the cylinders from the compression check last fall. My dad's K2 smokes a bit and that only had 12K miles on it when we got it.

Ah....music to my ears. She sounds good.

Tews...if you have trouble getting the nipple screwed into the sync hole for carb 2 & 3 try this. I attach a piece of say 4 inch rubber hose to the nipple. Then fit the nipple to the hole and turn the nipple via the rubber hose. Do the same to remove it.

A quiet afternoon in work here in Ireland and I've just read all 7 pages of this inspiring thread.

I am trying to ressurect a 550F1 and your build is really well documented. I love the fact that you've kept it original, paint chrome etc. Sometimes I feel that these bikes deserve to be ridden and loved for what they are, 30+ year old bikes! and maybe not restored to concours condition when you're afraid it might rain on them.
