I loved "The Others"   I thought "Exorcism of Emily Rose" was pretty good.

I like those surprising endings like one in  "The Others", but I happened to hate all M. Night Shamalamadingdong's movies, possible exception of "Unbreakable".

I like my women a little big. Natural. Now, they shave this and wax that. It's not right. I love natural women. Big women. This trend in women has to go. Bulomia, anorexia. That's just wrong. You know what will cure that? My special sticky buns. One lick of my sticky buns and your appetite will come right back. ~ RIP Mr. Borgnine  01/24/1917 - 07/08/2012  :'(

John Carpenter's The Thing.  I don't know if I'd call it "unconventional", but it's the perfect horror film for Halloween.  Alternatively, the 50s "The Thing" is good for some laughs, and for kids is still scary.

The "Monster Squad" is an excellent Halloween movie.  Good for kids-through adults, and some fairly creepy moments.  Also has the best WolfMan EVER!  I'd put it in the same category as The Frighteners.

If you like Nosferatu then you have to like " Shadow of the Vampire"  which is a fictionalized account of the making of Nosferatu.   It starred William DeFoe  , great movie.
