GSXR250 stops when put into gear?
« on: October 13, 2011, 07:21:35 PM »
OK working on this POS that my son bought and got it running great now but everytime I put it into gear it stops, doesn't just die it stops!
I thought maybe a safety device like Hondas have but even with the clutch and handbrake pulled in it still stops once put into gear?
Anyone care to take a stab at the reason! :-[ ???
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

I worked on a GSX600 motor that had been swapped into a go-cart a couple of months ago. Besides "secret resistors" built into the wiring harness, I recall something about a safety switch on the kick-stand...
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

+1 on the safety switch, try starting it up with the stand up and putting it into gear, My GSXR1100 had the same thing. Its meant to stop you riding off with the stand down....

If You can't fix it with a hammer, You've got an electrical problem.

Very clever of Suzuki to do that, will test your theory when I get a chance, makes a lot of sense though as I have been testing it just sitting on the side stand ha ha thanks boys. ;D

Kickstand down makes my friend feel   like an idiot on his Super Duke.

Must have been a mandate from the people who can't balance a budget.  I fact it smells like Bon Dole's wife or whoever the mother of protection is nowadays, gone international now.

Tipper Gore?  ;)

She is saving our dear, dear children from nasty lyrics.
"Well, Mr. Carpetbagger. We got somethin' in this territory called the Missouri boat ride."   Josey Wales

"It's Baltimore, gentlemen. The gods will not save you." Ervin Burrell
