Noob introducing himself.
« on: May 17, 2006, 02:03:45 PM »
Just saying high.  Here's a little about me and my bike.  I guess I will do my bike first because it is more interesting than I am.
I have a 1978 CB750 Super Sport.  I just picked it up last month for around $1000.  I am currently in the process of restoring it, even though the only problems are faded paint and cracks in the side covers.  Also, the headlight shroud is cracked so I need to get another one.  I have been on a few rides and LOVE it.  I just sold my 1978 CB550 K.  That was a fun bike.  It was beautifully restored.  I just needed to get some new decals for the tank.  I also will need some for my 750.  Does anybody know where I can get some new tank decals?
Anyway, now for the boring part: me.  I am 17 and a junior in high school.  I enjoy the old (old to me at least) SOHC 4's.  My dad was a Honda mechanic up tell around 1978 so he gives me a lot of tips and pointers on maintenance and restoration.  I have had two Honda fours: a CB550 and my CB750.  I enjoy riding in the mountans and I plan on taking a trip from California to Idaho and maybe up through Canada this summer.  Well, I guess that I don't have any more interesting things to say.

I actually found a site after searching through the forum. Here's a link to it in case anybody else is looking for tank decals.

I am glad to finally find some other 78 owners.  I was beginning to think that I was all alone.
And upperlake04, my 750 is red.

If you haven't already,  look in the FAQ Manuals and you will find a downloadable serice manual for your bike. Lucky you with a genuine mc mechanic close too.  Mine is black

Hey, don't feel alone, I'm also a noob here and have a '77 F2 which means we share all the same problems with doing a resto.  At the moment, mine's black but judging from my sanding on the side covers, it's flip flopped between black and red at least a couple times.   (Damn PO's)
Currently '77 CB750F2
Formerly '73 CL-350 Twin, '81 GS-650E, '83 VF-750C Magna (till some sum#$%* stole it)

Hey,
Thanks for pointing mt toward the service manuals!  I have a Haynes manual, which is great for teardowns and engine rebuilds, but lacks in the whole area of daily  maintenance.  I am planning on repainting the tank (pretty faded) and the side covers.  Does anybody know where I can get paint to match the original colors?
Thanks.

Again, in the FAQs.

Run a forum search on "dondirtbiker" as he sells kits and comes recommended by people on here.
