Painting vs Powdercoating
« on: October 11, 2011, 09:39:32 AM »
I was hoping to find out the pros/cons to each.  I am in the process of stripping down my bike to it's bare bones and starting from scratch.  Is powdercoating stronger than painting?

Absolutely! I am the self proclaimed powder-coating nut case! I don't apply it myself but i sure as hell spend a lot of money having someone else do it! Powder-coating is absolutely 100% stronger than paint. It has become very versatile regarding color. Almost any paint-able color, metallic or non, can be achieved with powder. The cons are it is difficult to buff it if it gets blemished. Some thinners and gasoline, if left on it for a period of time can stain or dull it. There really aren't many cons. Its not indestructible but it is strong. If you're doing a large project the powder-coater might give you a great deal on the whole project. Check out my guys: http://www.grandstanddesigns.com/cmsms/
