disc brake pad clearance
« on: May 14, 2006, 05:34:00 PM »
Is there a clearance for the active pad after it has sprung back from the disc or as long as it lets the wheel spin freely good enough? I get the impression the fixed pad should have  about .010 so I thought maybe there was a desired clearance for the other one.

                           thanks

Hey Wilson,
The fixed pad should never have any clearance, as the spring action on the swivel mount will always pull it in to the disc. Piston side only.

i thought he spring pushed tha caliper arm away from the caliper... so pushed the fixed pad away from the disc, and the piston side towards the disc... thats why you have to be carefull about adjustment, b/c the piston only goes in a little way, when the brake lever is released.
