Seems a lot easier for a newb to kill himself with 173 hp than with only a rear brake...

Now everybody go down a few beers and get on with life.

Absolutely and most liter bikes are closer to 200hp.

So now we are comparing a rigid bike with no brakes to a modern sport bike with all safety equipment ..?    Some people will kill themselves on anything granted but, that is a stupid comparison....

Some time ago I put one of my Sanglas (spanish make) bikes for sale. Bone stock, with less than 10.000k on the odo. A guy calls me and say he is interested, he is new to bikes and is looking for something classic-looking. I was out of town so we agreed he would call me back in some days.

And so he did, just to tell me politely that he saw another add for another bike, went to see it and bought it in the spot! I knew the other bike, it was a build from a guy I knew. The build looked cool, but the bike had a complete mix-and-match of parts from different years. Long story short, he paid more for a build than what I was asking for an almost-new, bone stock bike.

The guy simply bought the bike with the crotch instead of the brain. I have done that myself. No-brake bikes look dangerous, and some people want to look dangerous. They will ride their bikes with the crotch instead of their brain.

As long as they don't hurt anybody, that's allright by me. That could never happen in Spain, you would not pass DMV inspection without a front brake. Kingcustomcycles cater for a niche market, and as long as you are taught braking techniques to get your driving licence, you should know how important a front brake is. It is not Kingcustomcycles's fault. As somebody said, even if he installs a front brake, the owner can always remove it.

At the end of the day, nobody can force you to use it and you can always ride a bike with a double disc front brake and never use it.....

I like the looks of rigid bikes but I don't think I would ride any for longer than 20 or 30 miles. Those bikes are, in my opinion, great for looking and I get more pleasure from bikes by riding them than by noticing people looking at them.

In any case, I've learnt from this thread that the "King" came from Jesus. I always thought he nicknamed himself as the "king of custom cycles" and that seemed pretentious to say the least. In any case, as I remember he had a picture of -presumably- himself in the avatar, if he is as old as he looks he should be grown up enough to stand some criticism, that from what I read at the beginning, was pointed at the bike and not at the person. I also have put much time on my bikes and still I'm able to see them as external apendages from me, that is, you can think my bike is crap and that will just mean you don't like the outcome of my work.

If he just vanishes because a few guys don't like his work, what should do bike engineers when they design a bike and it becomes a sales flop? There is definitely much more work and money involved, and nobody is taken to the execution wall. Lesson learnt, page turned and let's move on to a new design......

the build looks saweet to me - KC i like it!

it's a statement dagnabbit!  an in-your-face push back against the norm:  no speedo/tacho, chainguard, sprocket cover, fork brace, muffling.  prolly kick start and good gawd he's runnng pods too!  all on a rigid frame.  he might have built it just to tweek some of the boyz mincing about on this site.   ;)

Very good points Raul. To erase yourself from the site is immature.

In the US we have more Lawyers than the rest of the World combined. Once he presents himself as a bike builder and expert he can then be held liable for the consequences, which was my point.

I work for a rail car manufacturer, and a Railroad wanted a different type of door design. They were warned that this could be considered legal but dangerous. A fellow fell out of one of the cars and was badly injured. They sued my Company and the Railroad. The Jury ruled that my Company was liable since we were considered "experts" and should have refused to use such a design. Large settlement to the person and much more expense retrofitting all the Railcars.

If I by a bike and remove the front brake, it is one me. If you manufacture a bike with no front brake, it is on you.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

I guess there isn't much I can contribute to this thread that hasn't already been said.
My advice to King, if you merely said "That's the way I make them due to customer demand, don't buy if your not interested, you all can suck it", it probably would have ended there.
It would have fit into your take no crap persona.
Changing or closing your profile is appears suspicious in the least.
Too bad you have left for now, as you do have good advice at times and definitely enrich the community here.
I enjoy a good handful of sarcastic comments, you have an abundance.

I also enjoy front brakes, sprockets covers, chain guards, engines without paraffin oil leak additives, fewer tie wraps and comfortable seats.
But I'm probably the minority these days.
Cheers

Not the first time King would post something, get sh*t for it, then delete it. Of course now it's everything he ever posted on the site. Kind of a big eff-you to everyone, including the newbs that he was always so eager to help. If you're gonna exit, do it, but don't take a bunch of forum history with you! There are now a lot of weird and disjointed threads out there because one side of the convo was deleted.

I find it odd that he wimped out so easily.  It's not the the first time a bike has been built without a front brake though it's a bike I would not care to ride.  He was a bit full of himself when it came to issues of money but otherwise he contributed quite a bit of useful info.  Others will take up the slack and two weeks from now it will be," King? who's that".

It is historical fact that Jesus rode a Harley, which was given to him by Moses after their epic defeat of the Palestinians.

So there you go.  Religion and motorcycles.

Ya know, Jesus should have considered wearing a helmet.  I mean that's just flat out dangerous.  I'm not taking orders from someone riding a Harley without a helmet.  Plain and simple...

I can see how the crown would be dangerous but would Jesus even need a helmet?  I know if I had superpowers I would just magically avoid accidents. ;D
