about had it
« on: October 13, 2011, 08:52:30 AM »
mods feel free to move this to open forums if thats where it needs to be.
I have about had it with the over inflated ego's of some people on this board.  And I am not just talking about the recent verbal war over KCC bike for sale on craig's list.  this is sposed to be an informative forum the people who have questions....a place for newbs and the experienced alike to ask honest questions and recieve honest answers.....not to be blasted by the over inflated egos of some people.   Opinions are like aholes.everyone has one that they believe is the only one that matters.
I have been a member here for a few years now and have seen this issue crop up from time to time.  How does this behavior make us look to guests and newbs who are looking for help?
Its time for people to grow up.  Not everyone on here is a professional this or that....not everyone has the advantage of having had worked for a dealerrship....or grown up on a bike............or the ability to think a problem through on thier own.  that is what this forum was created for, to help those who need it and maybe some FRIENDLY ribbing of each other............not for outright blasting someone's integrity............you shame shame the integrity of this whole forum with behavior like that.  Now, having got that off my chest.i really do not give a rat's azz if you like me anymore or not.  it needed to be said and brought to everyone's attention.  Good Day.

Starting another thread about it is not going to make it go away either. It will only bring about more debate by others that don't agree with you. Just sayin'  ;)

see, here we go with the opinions, but a thread like this is where it belongs.  And I am happy that people are reading this, at least it will make most of them think about thier actions.

this is the internet!!  people say things here that they would never say to your face IRL, that is never gonna change. take the things that you find here to be usefull or entertaining and go with it, disregard everything else.
i have never understood why some people get so bent out of shape over things written by people that they will never have any interaction with other than on a internet forum.
BTW, have you spent much time on any other forums??  this is by far one of the tamest places that i visit.

Hey this site is very tame. Prolly the most tame I have been on. When I got into the bike scene this summer again i joined caferracer.net......

I got flamed for stating I was a newbie to the scene and wanted to start a "cafe" build. I got what I deserved. I left the site, found this one and have since gone back to caferacer...I made a post on here how piss poor the members were on that site and since then realized why i got the #$%* i did. Looking back I appreciate the abrasiveness. It weeds out the weak, the fade followers. Ask jaguar and crazypj who are members over there as well. This thread about KCC is not bad at all. If your a friend of his thats fine and good for you to stick up for him...

I still can't believe that guys "in the business" for 30+ years haven't seen the suicide shift, pedal clutch, single REAR brake Harley's that probably don't work as well as a cb drum anyway. I know a guy who has a modern softail with that exact setup and that bike probably weighs about 800lbs. Stops fine all the time. I'd say reaching down and rearward during a power-shift is more dangerous than stopping on a single brake. Again, not my first choice of control but who are we to #$%* on whats been done a million times? Go tell some old chopper guy what you think of his single rear brake and hell probably laugh in your face..... or punch it. Just saying...

That about covers it right there. We are all bikers {not Bikies}, in my experience, a lot of us come from not so great back grounds and have done it pretty hard, in saying that i think that we also have a lot of sensitive new age types as well and i have noticed guys that get pissed or upset at the drop of a hat.... No surprises there, it is a global forum, and it takes all types. I have also noticed a tendency for people to call an argument simply because someone else a difference of opinion, and it should be a discussion, not an argument,  some people just don't want to hear anyone's opinion and get all upset over nothing. You post anything on a forum and you are going to get all sorts of answers, if that surprises anyone then i suspect you may have misinterpreted the Internet.....

They are only words people, we are all different, i would rather that than all to be back slapping yes men...... ;D

I am learning to read more instead of posting to everything... I am less invested in each thread that way, thus getting less hurt or angered by what people say.  I still get basically the same thing out of it, and often feel less a fool for it.

Some people look at it as though all these people on the internet are just internet people never to be thought of unless you're on the internet.  Well, I wholeheartedly disagree (edit: don't mean to start an argument with that statement)... Many of my best friends I met on the internet and even the ones I haven't met I still feel like I could walk into a room and feel like I knew them in person all along.  For instance, I met Gordon, Paul, MadDog, and several others on this site or our Rusted Nuts site in Denver, Hell, I even met my wife on Facebook!!  Just sayin', if we get worked up about what people say on the internet maybe we shouldn't say "its just the internet", maybe we should ask why these others' opinions are so important to us... is it, perhaps, that they really are friends??  :o

I have made some good friends online as well, i just think some people have less tolerance in a discussion online for some reason, words get put into people's mouths and misinterpretations become a problem, this rarely happens in a face to face situation when discussing bikes. I was at a huge bike show a couple of weeks ago and spoke to plenty of guys with the same interests and i think a lot comes from speaking to people in person because it becomes quite obvious what someone means particularly when you can see their facial expressions....We Aussies just love taking the piss {mickey} out of each other, humour is part of the way we communicate, i know that freaks out some of our international friends but most come to accept it and participate readily once accustomed to it....
I have some Japanese friends and boy, did it take a while before they worked us out..... :o ;D

That is very true, the body language and expression bit is missing from Internet chat. With out the visual part stuff gets all blown up very easy.

Bruce is right.  ;D  All sorts of messages get crossed when you can't hear the inflection in someones voice, or see their body language.

I have to admit, I was saying to myself that the Aussie's are going to think we Americans are all PC and soft. Have we turned into a nation of hippies?  We can't take it anymore? Really?
I've been picked on my whole life.  Sometimes in good fun, sometimes flat out hate.  I've taken my lumps and kicks to the nuts, and I got over it.  Hell, most of my closest friends started out as enemies.  We'd fight, get it over with and then drink a beer and laugh about it.
I know that's it's a Northeast thing to be sarcastic and bust ballz, and much of the rest of the country doesn't get it.  My dad grew up in the Bronx, and most of my family lives in North Jersey.  You can imagine what family get togethers are like. :o
This is all a bunch of crap, and I know none of you give a flying feck, but maybe it will help heal a wound or two out there.  I guess I'm handing out a few beers in the hope that ends this.  SOHC4...F*^K YEAH!! 8) 8)
