Question about carb rebuild kit
« on: October 12, 2011, 04:54:59 PM »
I ordered a carb rebuild kit to replace a faulty float valve on my 73 cb750. The kit I ordered is made by K&L. Inside the kit is are the prepackaged air/fuel screw and spring. In that prepackage is a an O-ring, and a washer. Can someone please tell me where the washer and the o-ring belong in relation to my carbs?

I pulled apart my carbs, but don't see any parts similar to the o-ring and the washer in the kit?

The only place I can think of for an o-ring, is on the fuel connecting pipe between the carbs on the rack.

Can't you look on a parts fiche to see what goes where?

Im pretty sure there's an oring behind the small washer and spring for the air screw. Get a flashlight and look in there.

sometimes they will have kits that are for multiple bikes and not all bikes will require all the parts. Its just easier to add the o ring to all the kits even if you won't need them.

I looked at a parts fiche, buts I can't really make out where they go. The air mix screws I pulled out of my carbs didn't have washers, or o-rings.

Do the sync plugs have washers, as only one of my carbs' sync plugs had a washer?

If they are the small washers, they go on the screws that you use to synch the carbs.

The screw with the spring doesn't use a washer or o-ring.

O-ring is likely for the bowl drain screw or for the "T" fitting between the carbs ?
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

If you have 8 O-rings they are for the fuel T fittings.
If the package has 4 O-rings they should be for the float bowl drain screws.
The small flat washers are for the carb sync ports.

I had them in my kit too - and left them out.  I couldn't find any place they would fit.

o-ring for the float bowl drain screw?
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

Those washers and o rings are in those holes for the air screws. They generally are a tight fit into the carb body and can at times take some effort to remove. O ring in first, then washer so the spring rides on that. Your choice to try and dig that out or leave it.

I've noticed that often times they can come out when blowing compressed air through carbs.

They are in there though, you can be assured of that.

it must be different by year, those o-rings I had would never fit in the air screw hole.
