Hi guys, I'm new here but not new to old bikes. I just added a 1976 CB550 to my collection. I'm the second owner and the bike has 6,700 original miles. As far as I can tell, its 100% stock. It even has all of the original stickers on it like "Helmet Holder" and the big list of warnings on the sticker by the fuel filler cap.
I bought the bike in non running condition from an old guy who parked it in 1985. Here is how she looked when I picked her up:
It had a super ugly fairing and sissy bar and 30 years worth of dust. I changed the oil and put in a new battery and plugs. All the electrical worked and it cranked well.
Here is is after a trip through the drive in car wash:
It wouldnt start, so I removed the carbs to clean all of the gunk out and rebuild them. After a good carb rebuild it fired up after only a few cranks! I also rebuilt the front caliper and master cylinder since it lost pressure during hard braking.
Afte a few rides and a good polish, this is how it looks now:
I only paid $300 for the bike, and spent an additional of $175 to get her running and looking like this. I LOVE this bike!!!
