'78 GL1000 Front on '74 CB750
« on: October 14, 2011, 04:48:46 PM »
I'd like to do a front end swap on my '74 cb750k, and I have the opportunity to scoop the front off of a '78 GL1000.

First - with these two model bikes, it should be a straight swap not needing any frame or steering head mods - correct?
Second - with the added addition of stopping ability, are will there be any other differences in steering performance versus the stock cb front end?

Thanks in advance for input.

...gl forks have 38mm(or 37?) tubes versus cb 35mm, a little more rigid...throw on a fork brace from Randakk's (ohh, but it's pricey...anybody found any others?) and you should have decent rigidity...
If it works good, it looks good...

More knowledgeable members are welcome to correct me, but I believe you'll have to use the '75-'76 triples with your forks (37mm tubes) to easily mount the front end to you K4. The steering bearings are the same for your bike and for the earlier GW.  RR
