I just scored a tank 750 KO I think (Pics)
« on: October 15, 2011, 12:51:45 PM »
Hey All,

I just scored a never used 750 KO tank. I'm pretty sure.
Pics to follow. It is red with gold stripes that have a little tear drop by the seat.

How can I tell it is a KO for sure?

Make sure to check if it has wrinkles under the fill cap on the raised neck. Any NOS tank is a very good find,a wrinkle would be even better ;)

Looking in the filler cap in picture #3, the sheet metal is smooth, not wrinkled, indicating it is a later tank, not sandcast/K0 "wrinkle tank".

To be honest the color looks a little on the more orange-red side instead of a deeper richer red.I will look at the pics again but the bottom looked to well painted, usually pretty thin and splotchy. May be a re-paint possibly. Also the gas cap is a newer after recall version. Is the petcock holes covered with some painted tape? Also the bottom chrome and black trim is missing.

It has the factory tape over the petcock and smells like cosmoline or what ever they put in it new so it wont rust.
I was going to run it by Hondaman's so he can look at it up close.

A Harley shop in his 18 wheeler in a milk carton with stuff all piled  on it. Friend went to get his bike fixed and I saw it out the back.

I'm not even telling how much.  hehe

Good call.
I don't really want to mess up the paint even on the tape it is so nice.

Someone with matching side covers would love that tank!  Price getting one professionally painted with decals to match and you will know why people will pay good money for yours.  Nice score.

You should buy a set of my covers and paint to match, then sell as a set on ebay for $700.

Should this be in the "for sale" section of the site?

No, I think everyone that has spent time here knows Franken and just pimping his side covers. Doesn't bother me. You should check them out.
