Another... 1973 CB350F Project
« on: October 20, 2011, 11:55:27 AM »
Hey everyone.  I want to share with you alittle project i started on a very very low budget.  I picked up this bike for $600 bucks.  It ran, but very poorly, it had sat for 5 years and accually started on the 5 yr old gas!  The bowls leaked but everything was there and worked.  Here is what she looked like when i first got her in the driveway.

Since than i have pulled the rusty tank, the gummed up carbs.  I used some vinegar and salt to clean the inside of the tank for rust, and stripped the paint off as well, there is a few dents i need to fix up too. Then i removed the rusty baffles from the exhaust and threw on some drag bars!!

I sent the tank over to my local honda dealership to fix a recall of the stock gas cap release so they gave me a new cap and locking latch.  I pulled the bowls off the carbs and cleaned it all up and installed new gaskets in the bowls too.  After i got my tank back i put new gaskets in my petcock and reinstalled that, threw the tank back on the bike and fired it up!

My petcock is leaking pretty bad from the bowl and im afraid the rust and corosion is to much for it to seal properly with the new oring :(  I will dig into that later when i have a chance.  I will have lots of pictures up soon of my progress from removing the seat and the gauges, along with removing the rear fender!  let me know what u think.

Nice score on the bike. Fix those leaks though, you don't want a fire! Good luck on the rest of her.
