Who can we get to do a REAL tire test
« on: October 26, 2011, 04:10:32 PM »
I'm looking at tires for my 750 and I get alot of 'my tire is better than your tire' type information.

In automotive world, there are lots of comparison tests done to help Joe Average make an informed decision, but I haven't seen anything like that for cycles of this type.

Have any of you seen anything like this?

Hands down, I would buy a set of Bridgestone Battleax BT45's for my bike.

Heres my reasons:

-They wear nice
-Grip the road on hot, cool and rainy days (more so then other tires i have used ((spitfires, challengers, metzler lazers))
-They are affordable for the average biker
They last me at least 2 seasons, I replace tires every 3rd season, I just dont like a rubber sitting around all winter not moving and then go and want to ride it, one winter is fine, 2 is pushing my comfort level

I have not put these tires on my 750 four yet, they will be going on come spring, I have run these tires on the following bikes:

72 Kawasaki 350 triple
74 Kawasaki 500 triple
98 Kawasaki 600 ninja
03 Kawasaki 750 ninja

I am sure others will chime in

Good luck finding any information you could trust to be impartial. There aren't enough 18 or 19" tires sold for anyone to give a $hit. We should be thankful there is still some choice.

If you buy cheap, you'll get cheap.

Choose a brand name company and pay for decent quality. Maybe they'll continue to offer something for us.

I ran Battlax BT45s on my '11 Ninja 250. They gripped nicely, and didn't slip on wet lane buttons.

Thanks for posting the article!

Not that I'm canyon carving like those guys were, but I'm looking for a great tire and I think the info was pretty good.

By the way, how do our bikes look on 17's?  Spoke that is?

I believe the late K's came with 17" rears. Look fine.

+1 on BT-45s. On both my K2 and K4. I have thousands of miles (~10,000) on these tires in real world testing and I agree with everything Curtis750 has said.

I love my BT45's -- They're on my RD350, and I love them.  I don't remember what is on my CB...

Most of those tyres are available to fit old Honda's.
I've got BT45's and Conti 'GO'
Conti's are noticeably lighter weight (better on a light bike?) and grip plenty good enough for me
