CB350F Main Jet O-ring - Help finding these
« on: October 16, 2011, 07:06:37 PM »
Hey all,

I tried to find orings for my carb rebuild (CB350F) thru McMaster Carr or some other source where you can get 100 of them for around 4 bucks as opposed to spending $35 on a carb kit when I don't need any of the other parts.

So, I got all but the main jet O-ring now.  according to what I found here: http://www.sohc4.net/?p=231

This is a 3mm I.D. X 1.2mm thick o-ring.

I can't find this size ANYWHERE!!!  I got 3mm X 1.5mm, and it's to "fat", I can't get the jet to push in.  I also got X 1mm, and it's to thin, the jet falls right out.

Any help out there?

Thanks - Luke

I get all my seals and o-rings from this outfit. I go to their store in seattle and they spend time helping me out. Never saw an o-ring they didn't have or couldn't get.

I just use a generic metric viton O ring pac find one that fits right in the groove and sand down the profile till I can just barely push it back into its seat make sure it is good viton (gasoline resistant) believe it or not the original oring was not an oring at all it was more like a band and so it was wider than it was tall so if you find one the right width and sand the height down you are basically making one I have found no one that makes or supplies these orings but I have found people that supply the jet themselves
when you own a motorcycle the wife does not have to find you handy she just has to find you

Thanks guys I will check that shop out, and give an attempt of "sanding" down the 1.5mm ones I have.

I have 100 of them so there are plenty to practice on...

I think with the right methods, most of the time you really don't need all the new brass parts, just the rubber.  The carb kits seem to be for the people who don't want to take the time to properly clean the internals.  I have yet to really need to replace any of the jets after a good ultrasonic cleaning.
