Can't get over 5000 rpm
« on: May 18, 2006, 01:46:41 PM »
It's probably been said but I couldn't find any links.(alright I couldn't be arsed - just spen all al fitting a cluth in my Dads Triumph Vitesse).

I took my '76 750 F1 out for a thrash ready for it's MOT but I can't get the engine over 5000 in top, you can feel it trying to pull but no joy. I know someone will say "sync those carbs" and I have sunk 'em any other ideas.

Are you getting enough fuel? Do a plug chop at speed and let us know what's going on.

Can you hit over 5k in other gears, or not at all?
